Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David. He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. Nicene Creed  (Please stand if you are able.)

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. Holy Child of Bethlehem, angels proclaimed your birth to shepherds at their labors; we pray for all people in their daily life and work: for those called to shepherd your people, and for those who carry your love into the world. May we see your glory in the world around us and, like the shepherds, may we bear witness to your presence among us. Lord, in your mercy,  People: Receive our prayer.

Holy Child of Bethlehem, born in a stable when your parents found no room in the inn, we pray for all who are without shelter this winter, for all who know financial poverty, and for all who respond and offer, even what little they have, to meet the needs of others, especially at this time for those unemployed due to COVID-19. Lord, in your mercy, People: Receive our prayer.

Holy Child of Bethlehem, welcomed into your mother’s loving arms, we pray for all who are lost and alone and have no arms to hold them; for those who are sick or in need and depend upon loving arms to care for them, for those whose arms are now empty and mourn loved ones gone due to COVID-19 or any other cause, and for those who are no longer with us but have been welcomed into your loving arms. Lord, in your mercy,  People: Receive our prayer.

Holy Child of Bethlehem, a refugee in Egypt, whom Herod sought to kill, we pray for all who live with danger, for all undocumented human beings, who are persecuted in our country and around the world, and for all who are far from their homes. Lord, in your mercy,  People; Receive our prayer.

Holy Child of Bethlehem, in you God was pleased to dwell, help us, we pray, to see the divine image in people everywhere, and to honor the divine image in ourselves. Forgive us where we have sinned, strengthen us where we are weak, heal us where we are blind. Lord, in your mercy,  People: Receive our prayer.

My dear and beloved Jesus, I believe You are present at the table with us as we gather as a community of faith, and I would have loved to be next to you today, but due to this pandemic I cannot. I love You above all things, with my whole heart, and I desire to receive You into my heart.  Come to me, I am open to receive You. Since I cannot at this moment be gathered at the table to receive You sacramentally, please come to me spiritually, as if I would be present in church. I embrace You as I know You are already here with me.  I know nothing can separate me from You and your love. Amen.

Holy Gospel

John 1:6-8,19-28

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him. He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light.

This is the testimony given by John when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?” He confessed and did not deny it, but confessed, “I am not the Messiah.” And they asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the prophet?” He answered, “No.” Then they said to him, “Who are you? Let us have an answer for those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?” He said, “I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’” as the prophet Isaiah said. Now they had been sent from the Pharisees. They asked him, “Why then are you baptizing if you are neither the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?” John answered them, “I baptize with water. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and everything that is done on it will be disclosed.

Since all these things are to be dissolved in this way, what sort of persons ought you to be in leading lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set ablaze and dissolved, and the elements will melt with fire? But, in accordance with his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness is at home.

Therefore, beloved, while you are waiting for these things, strive to be found by him at peace, without spot or blemish; and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation.

Holy Gospel

Mark 1:1-8

The beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

As it is written in the prophet Isaiah,

“See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way;

the voice of one crying out in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord,
make his paths straight,’”

John the baptizer appeared in the wilderness, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. And people from the whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem were going out to him, and were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. Now John was clothed with camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. 2023 Holiday Fair Photos

Our 2023 Holiday Fair took place Saturday Dec. 2, 2023. Along with an amazing array of vendors selling their handcrafted items, we also had two candy tables, a baked goods table, and an amazing lunch menu. Additionally the entire downstairs was transformed into a treasure hunters paradise with craft supplies, clothing, jewelry, DVDs, toys, and enough holiday decorations for many households.

November 12, 2023 – The Twenty-Fourth Sunday after Pentecost

This time of year we invariably take stock from events of the past months and look to complete unfinished tasks before the end of the year. Reflecting back on this past year, I am proud to be part of a church which gives so much towards the community and each other. From events like Blood Drives and our Free Market Tag Sale, to our Community Dinner we just held and food bank donations, we strive to show God’s love through action. is supporting our church through financial stewardship. Your commitment to helping the church by pledging is the cornerstone which keeps us on a solid footing for 2024.

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.
